Happy late MLK Day. Hope you all had a peaceful/restful one as I. Amongst all of the TV and Radio tributes I heard yesterday regarding MLK, I heard something very interesting by one, Martina Navratilova, former Tennis great. She said (Paraphrasing here), "MLK was for the rights of all, and being a Gay woman, I understood that he couldn't control being born black, like I cant control being gay." I find that quote to be very interesting and possibly perversion of what MLK was all about.
He was for the rights of every man, woman, and child no matter the race or sex. I agree with that, but I also know that he was a staunch believer in the Christ way of doing things, and Christ was not pro homosexual no matter how you slice it. So I believe that she possibly perverted his stance. Although I've personally never read that He was anti/pro homosexual rights, I really doubt it. And please don't take this and run with it in a negative way, for I, Louis Hardy, love and treat all people with respect whether I agree with how they live or their lifestyle choices (whether you agree it's a lifestyle choice or not). It disturbs me to see the hate come out of people's mouths toward homosexuals, (especially so called Christians) but on the flipside, I'm tired of homosexuals comparing their plight with people of African origins in this country. Its total apples and oranges. Don't want to do a compare and contrast of why, but if you need me to, I will at a later time.
Also, isn't it funny that when they talk about what MLK stood for, they never truly talk about what he stood for, or what he was about. They always speak of how he took his anti violence ways from Gandhi, but did he? Or could it be that those ways come from his Christian roots (see Matthew 5:38-41)? I do agree that he studied Gandhi along with others, but most of his tactics and views come from biblical scriptures. He was well trained and versed in the Gospel. He was a Christian, and that is a fact you cannot ignore, his ways, tactics, and views were that of a believer in "The Way". How can you accept a man’s tactics, but not the true origins of them, which is his faith? It's easy because.....wait for it.........wait for ittttt.......wait for itttttttttt.... Ding Ding Ding, you got it; "The world hates God". It's nothing new, been going on since Christ arrived in the world. He is a separator of people, for Matt 10:34-36 says,
34 “Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword. 35 For I have come to turn
“‘a man against his father,
a daughter against her mother,
a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law—
36 a man’s enemies will be the members of his own household.
a daughter against her mother,
a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law—
36 a man’s enemies will be the members of his own household.
Some would say after reading this that, "That Jesus guy is Cruel", but if you really get to understand his overall message, you learn that the world divides us by race, ethnicity, sex, height, weight, hair color, etc, Christ divides us by one thing, and one thing only, and that’s FAITH. And that faith, which is in He, will divide families, for you might have a daughter who believes, but not a father, a mother who believes, but not a son, etc. People love the moral principles that Christ laid, but not Christ himself.
I know someone who grew up in a Muslim home. They came to church with a friend and I a few times. They liked the church and really didn't believe in the Islamic faith, for they were more of a Muslim by culture, but was still afraid to totally break free because they didn't want to disappoint nor be disowned by their parents. I ran across this scripture today and it made me think of this person’s situation and how Christ doesn't care about who you disappoint on his behalf. Your parents can’t get you in to Heaven, neither can your friends, mates, siblings, anyone. Don't be afraid to choose Christ for he says,
32 “Whoever acknowledges me before others, I will also acknowledge before my Father in heaven. 33 But whoever disowns me before others, I will disown before my Father in heaven.
Be Blessed,
L
